Featured Design Team Series: Embracing the Embellish-mental by Alison Heikkilla

Greetings! Alison here. This week, the White Rose Crafts Team is "Embracing our Embellish-mental Side." So we are focusing on things like Sparkle Blends, buttons, Nuvo Drops, etc. I decided to focus on one of the newest Sparkle Blends from Doodles Paper Playground, called Vixen. Be sure to read to the bottom for a special notice!

I was really inspired by one of the Sugar Skulls from Dovecraft. There are 3 styles available, and the price is under $2! Although there are a lot of details on this skull, it was quick to color up. I used my Zig Clean Color Markers.

I fussy cut the Sugar Skull out, and chose one of my many backgrounds made with Distress Oxide Inks that I had in my stash. It was made with the "Ink Smooshing" technique with Picked Raspberry, Twisted Citron, and Peacock Feathers. I used a die from Elizabeth Crafts Designs to cut out my window.

For my card base, I rubbed Wilted Violet Distress Oxide around all 4 edges, and then dripped water on to it to get it to oxidize. Then, I added a piece of cardstock from Lemoncraft's Fresh Summer to serve as my background for my shaker window. As I mentioned earlier, I used Vixen Sparkle Blend for the shaker. This Blend had purples, pinks, blues, and lots of opalescence, so it went perfectly with my Oxide background. I adhered a few sequins to the background so that there would always be some sequins showing. I opted to leave off a sentiment, so that when I decide to mail this card, I can choose what would be appropriate then.

I love the detail in the Dovecraft Sugar Skulls. And they are a great size to work with. And of course almost anything looks good with a shaker! Please be sure to visit the White Rose Crafts Blog to see more Embellish-mental projects. And, below you will find a special discount! Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

Featured Design Team Series: Embellished Gift Tags by Kim Slade-Fuller

Good morning everyone, Kim here with a fun project featuring lots of embellishments from White Rose Crafts. This week the team is Embracing our Embellishmental Side! Which means you get $5 off when you spend $30 or more in the Embellishments section of the store (which includes a HUGE array of sub-sections). Use the Code: BLING IT UP at the check out.

This week I decided to create some whimsical gift tags for the upcoming holiday season. I cut out a star shape from some chipboard and covered it with some of the Pastel Chic paper from the White Rose Craft Store.

I covered both sides of the stars with the paper, and distressed the edges of the stars with my distress tool.

Once that was done, I got out some coordinating paints and went around the edges of the stars with the paint, so no plain chipboard would show.

Next, it was time to stamp on a sentiment. I used the Kelly Creates Quotes 1 Stamp Set for this, along with the Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide and also the Tattered Rose Distress Oxide.

Once I had stamped them on, I used some of the Vintage Pearl Embossing powder and embossed the words on the stars. The effect is quite subtle, but I like how it looks.

Now its time to play with the embellishments!  I first went around each of the stars with some wool fibers to make them look festive. After that was done, I got out some of the Recollections Flowers, I used two different sets, The Flower Garden and the Dimensional Paper Flowers in White.

I added some fun with some of the Tim Holtz paper dolls from my stash and then used some of my favorite embellishments from the store, the  Dress it up line!

I used the Dress it up snowflake buttons and mini cookie cutter set for these tags.

Lastly, I added some Doodles Paper Playground Sparkle Blend pieces from the Vixen set to give the tags some glitter. I used Glossy Accents to adhere them down, which is available in the White Rose Shop.

I finished each of the star tags off with some ribbon from my stash. I left the back of the star blank, so a name for the gift can be added to it.

I hope you like my little star gift tags, and have found some inspiration here today!

Embrace you "Embellish-mental" Side

A New Design - Made with PosterMyWall

Hey Rossies, it's EK from ekgorman designs and I am sneaking in tot let you know that it is Saturday, so that means it is time for a the start of a new theme week over at White Rose Crafts.  This week we are getting Embellishy and suggesting you "Embrace Your Embellish-mental Side".

I thought I would share how to create a masculine card featuring embellishments.

EK Gorman, WHite Rose Crafts a

For my project this week I pulled out the masculine stamp Oddball Gamer from Stamping Bella.  I then colored him up quickly up with my copics.  I distressed the edges of the card with some Black Soot Distress Oxides.

EK Gorman, WHite Rose Crafts b

Then, to embrace the embellishments, I pulled out some Wooden Cogs from Kaisercraft.  I rubbed some wax from my stash onto the wooden gears, but you could distress them with some paint or even stamping ink.  The card needed a little something more, so I pulled out my Ebony Black Nuvo Drops and added three drops to balance the card out.

EK Gorman, WHite Rose Crafts c

I hope this A2 card I made today shows you how you can embrace your embellishments even for masculine cards!

Need some new Embellishments to embrace...all week long you can get $5 off a $30 purchase of embellishments (anything under the embellishment heading) using the code: BLING IT UP.

Featured Design Team Series: 2 Sentimental Script Cards by LeeAnn McKinney

Greetings friends and fellow crafters, LeeAnn here with my weekly White Rose Crafts design team project.
Today I used two of the Kelly Creates Sentiment Stamp Sets and 2 6"x6" paper pads for my projects. Let me tell you, these stamp sets sure are an awesome value for your money. Not only for the number of stamps you get, but the fact that you can use them in conjunction with the tracing paper pad to learn Brush Writing.

For my first project I have an A2 kraft colored card base, my white layer, and then from the Ultimate Crafts L'aquarelle Designs 6"x6" paper pad. The dragonfly and flower panel is from the opposite side of the watercolor panel. I used the Happy and Birthday words from the Kelly Creates Congratulations set for my sentiment. I stamped using Versafine Onyx Black Ink.

For my second project I used Red and Blue cardstock from my stash, the panel with the crayons as well as the notebook panel are from the DoodleBug 6"x6" Back to School paper pad, I stamped the sentiments from the Kelly Creates Quotes 3 Stamp set using Versafine Onyx Black ink.

Featured Design Team Series: Scripty Wishes by Kim Slade-Fuller

Good morning friends, Kim here with my next design team project for White Rose Crafts.
This week you get 20% OFF everything in the Kelly Creates section of the store. There are some gorgeous stamps in stock and now is the time to take advantage of this great discount! Use the code: GET SCRIPTY at the check out.

I have made a clean and simple card and envelope set with the Neenah A2 heavy weight card and envelope packs in the White Rose shop as my base for my card.
Next, I got out my Kelly Creates Quotes 1 stamp set and used some VersaMark clear ink and stamped my sentiments all around the card stock and then embossed them while the ink was wet with Vintage Pearl embossing powder.

I got out my Distress Oxides in Tumbled Glass and Shaded Lilac and went over the embossed sentiments, blending both colours together until I was happy with the result.

I decided I wanted to add a little Evergreen Bough as well, so ...I did! The Oxides are so beautiful and blend so well, using this technique with the embossing powder creates a great resist for the Oxides.

I heat set the Oxides and then buffed the embossed script with a clean cloth to make the embossed words stand out.  I wanted to activate the Oxides so I got out some spray in a pearl white from my stash, and spritzed over the top of the card. You do not have to use a spray, water works great on the oxides as well.

You can see the droplets in the photo below, it really gives the card a fun effect.

Now it was time to play with the Doodles Paper Playground Sparkle Blend mix called Vixen. I added lots of sparkle to my card with them and used some Glossy Accents  to adhere them, which is available in the White Rose Store.

I really love this Sparkle blend mix, and the fun reindeer sequins!  I also stamped "Wish" and did the same resist technique on a small band for across the front of the card. I used the Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide for the background so it would stand out a bit from the background of the card.

I also decorated the envelope by blending the same colour of Oxides lightly around the edge and stamped the Wish sentiment from the Kelly Creates Quotes 1 stamp set, and finished it off with a few more pieces from the Vixen sparkle blend.

I hope you have enjoyed my tutorial today and have found some inspiration here!

Sentimental Scripts

sentimental scripts

Hey Rosies...its EK and it is Saturday, so that means it is time for a new Theme Week over at White Rose Crafts!  This week we are getting a little Sentimental... about scripts that is.  We are celebrating the written word all week long and showing off how cool script and crafting can be with our Sentimental Scripts.

Today I am featuring three projects using Kelly Creates stamps and pens, because if we are going to get scripty, we might as well use products that make it so easy.  Feel like getting Sentimental with your script as well, then all week look you can get 20% off in the Kelly Creates section of the store using the code: GET SCRIPTY.

EK Gorman, White Rose Crafts a

I started my first project with some flirty fun paper from ScrapBerry's Young and Free paper pack.  Then using some Super Fine Clear Embossing Powder from Ranger, I embossed the word Happy over and over from Kelly Creates Congratulations sentiment stamp set.

EK Gorman, White Rose Crafts b

Then on another piece of Young and Free paper, I stamped in pale ink, the work birthday.  Using the sapphire pen from Kelly Creates Jewel Brush Pens set, I traced the stamped letters to look like I had the ability to do calligraphy.

EK Gorman, White Rose Crafts c

I finished off the project with some sequins from Doodles Paper Playground's Sparkle Blend sequin mix in Pretty in Pink.

EK Gorman, White Rose Crafts d

My second project features papers from the LemonCraft House of Roses 12x12 paper and House of Roses Ephemera cards.  I distressed the edges of the paper a little more using some Tattered Rose and Vintage Photo Distress Oxides.

EK Gorman, White Rose Crafts e

I added my script with the ruby Jewel Brush Pen and Kelly Creates Quotes 1 sentimental stamp pack.

EK Gorman, White Rose Crafts f

The project got finished off with some Rosy Gold Sparkle Blend sequins and I can not wait to send this card to my (not blood, but still family) grandmother.

EK Gorman, White Rose Crafts g

My final project was a bit of an experiment, on that I wasn't certain that worked.  I was trying to make the card look like that sun that comes out from the clouds...but I think my colors were too off to really make it work...however, the script looked great so I included it.

EK Gorman, White Rose Crafts h

The project started with some LawnFawn Polka in the Meadow paper pack and used the LawnFawn Cloudy Hillside pop up die set (obviously not popped up) to create the base of the card.

EK Gorman, White Rose Crafts i

Then using both the gold and the sapphire Jewel Brush Pens I added the scripty sentiment from Kelly Creates Quotes 1 stamp pack.  The card was finished off with some Frozen Sparkle Blends sequins and some Ivory Seashell Nuvo Drops.

Thanks for peeking in today, and make sure you share any of your sentimental scripts on the Facebook...we love seeing what you create.
