Hi there!  I'm thrilled to be guest designing for Doodles Paper Playground and White Rose Crafts.  My sweet friend, Amber MacMurtry, recently asked me to try some of her gorgeous sequin mixes, which are sold exclusively by White Rose Crafts.  I have to tell you:  These mixes are so colorful and cool!  Amber has put together some truly unique mixes, and I will definitely be using more in the future!

I just love pinks and purples, and with Valentine's Day right around the corner, I couldn't resist playing with the fabulous Love Potion Sparkle Blend!  For my card I also used the cute bunny from Your Next Stamp's Love and Smiles, which I colored with Copics.  I love adding highlights with a white gel pen and some sparkle, and I did both to this cutie patootie.

The heart paper was created with MFT Stamps' Staggered Hearts Stencil and Festive Berries and Wilted Violet distress inks.  After embossing a sentiment from Love & Smiles onto a separate piece of Bristol paper, I ink-blended with the same colors and flicked on some water and watered-down white paint to create my background.

I die-cut the stenciled panel with Waffle Flower's Lacey Layers dies and Winnie & Walter's Flawless Heart Cutaways.  After covering the opening with acetate, I added two layers of foam tape so that those beautiful sequins have plenty of room to move around.  I popped up my bunny with foam tape, as well.

Guest Designer Series: Sharon White-Doodles Paper Playground: Sparkle Blends "But First, Coffee"

As a coffee lover, the name of this sequins mix really appealed to me!  ALWAYS, FIRST coffee! This is a lovely mix of tans, browns, golds & copper with a surprising iridescent aqua sequin that is a nice little addition! I chose to use aqua in my card and hoped to draw the eye to that beautiful aqua sequin!  The colors in this set will enhance a variety of cards, and I can't wait to create an autumn card using them!  

I used the Darkroom Door "What's Brewing" stamp set & a coffee background stamp from my stash to create a simple shaker card that is a blend of earthy neutrals with a pop of beautiful, bright aqua.

I began with an A2 base of Neenah Exact Index 110# cardstock. Using Stampin' Up Crumb Cake ink, I stamped the coffee background stamp down the left side and then stamped the Coffee Beans from the What's Brewing stamp set. Then, on a scrap piece of white cardstock, I stamped out the coffee cups from the same cup, using Versafine Onyx Black ink, then colored them in with my Spectrum Noir markers. I then sealed the color on the coffee cups with a glaze of Glossy Accents, and set them aside to dry.

While the Glossy Accents dried, I used a Gina Marie Designs stitched rectangle die to cut out a frame of white fun foam and another of dark brown cardstock. I then cut a panel of acetate to fit the rectangle frame and stamped my sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I allowed plenty of time for the sentiment to dry before adhering the three layers together. 

Next, I placed a generous amount of Doodles Paper Playground: Sparkle Blends "But First, Coffee" sequin embellishment mix onto the center of my stamped background and adhered the layered frame on top, making sure to seal the edges so that none of the beautiful sparkly bits could escape, leaving a small border of the background panel showing. Finally, I adhered the coffee cups in my desired arrangement on top of the frame to complete the design.

I am in love with LOVE POTION!  

I have to say up front that I'm fairly new to using sequins on my cards, and have never made a shaker card before!  I didn't know how varied and beautiful the mixes can be!!  Wow!!!  I'm hooked!  My eyes were caught by the lovely blend of reds/pinks/purples and all the shimmery luscious bits in "Love Potion"!  There are large heart sequins, smaller gold hearts with an open center and of course, lots of little hearts in addition to the iridescent sequins and seed beads.  My favorite are the iridescent-pink petal shaped sequins which are like little cups!  I went a little crazy creating my card with this delectable mix!

For this pretty, feminine embellished heart shaker card, I used Simon Says Stamp sentiment paired with Spellbinders Vines of Passion dies and several different colors of Distress Ink.

On a piece of watercolor paper, I smudged distress inks & spritz them with water to move the color around. I let it dry and then smudged the edges with Picked Raspberry. I tapped some Seedless Preserves ink onto my craft mat and spritzed it again with a tiny bit of water and tapped my Love stamp in the watered ink before pressing onto my background. I then used a Gina Marie Designs Stitched Rectangle die to cut my panel.

I used the Vines of Passion dies from Spellbinders to cut out a fun foam heart, a matching acetate heart and the pretty flourish heart from vellum. I adhered the acetate heart to the foam heart, then top with the vellum heart. To embellish the edges of the heart, I applied about an inch of Glossy Accents to the vellum edges and adhered an assortment of "Love Potion" Sparkle Blends sequins and embellishments. I continued in sections until the outer edge of vellum heart was filled with sparkly fun & then set it aside to dry.

  

While I waited for my glossy accents to set, I adhered the completed  watercolored background to the center of an A2 size card base made from Neenah Exact Inex cardstock, leaving a wide white border.

I placed a generous amount of "Love Potion" Sparkle Blends embellishment mix into the center of my completed background piece. Once the glossy accents had set enough, I adhered the layered hearts on top, being sure to seal the sides so none of the Sparkle Blends could escape. For my final touch, I stamped a Simon Says Stamp sentiment from my stash using Seedless Preserves ink to the center of my panel, below the shaker heart.
